Also, you are definitely on the right track with the sales process you described.

I think I’ll also set-up a Squeeze Page with an Front End Offer, One Time Offer and a Download Page, and comapre results. Do you happen to know if it’s possible to buy software that can accomplish this in a quick and easy fashion? I’m envisaging a plug-in solution / script that can then be customized with the ‘Sales Copy’, the FEO and OTO, along with the Opt-in Bribe (e.g. PDF or whatever).

If you know of a specific software application that you feel able to mention / recommend that would be really useful.

Alternatively, I’ll have to either learn to set this up myself, or pay a Web Developer to sort it out for me.

@Max, in considering only conversion, I would definitely say that the best conversion rates will come from a sales letter/Squeeze page, but that probably isn’t your only consideration. For me, a blog is not so much a conversion tool as it is a traffic and *conversation* tool. So it depends on what you are looking for.

As I mentioned, I’m going to do away with the blog for this project because it’s not getting me the *easy* traffic that I thought it might. I can generate a lot more traffic with JVs and affiliates because this project is *designed* from the start to be rewarding for affiliates.

I think your assumptions about social proof and relationship building are dead on for a blog.

For list building, blogs can work very well, but not nearly as well as just a squeeze page.

So, the answer is, I guess “it depends on your goals.”

If you don’t know where to start, I suggest starting with the blog and watching your results. A blog has a lot of intangible benefits, so you can’t go wrong, but you may change course at some point.

I’ve just read your post with great interest, and have a question in relation to it, that I hope you may feel able to comment on.

Context: Very soon I’m going to launch a site that will hopefully prove of interest to those seeking info on ‘traffic generation’.

Bearing in mind an earlier piece of advice which came from you (i.e. use a Blog as the index page of a website) can I just ask whether your opinion as to ‘choice of platform’ (Blog or website) where ‘List Building’ is the primary consideration, has now changed?

In other words, is (1) a website, (2) a blog or (3) a website with a blog as the index page the best option when the main objective is to List Build?

I’ve sort of reach a conclusion that – because List Building necessitates ‘relationship marketing’ – a blog becomes an important element for social proof and capturing questions / comments with subscribers I’m seeking to build a relationship with.

Therefore it seems sensible to run the whole operation from a blog. as I will have to have a blog (for the reasons mentioned above) and it would be extra work – and extra cost – to build a blog and a website. Any thoughts?
