7) Create Links
The final step in setting up your system is to create VisiOlo tracking links for your major traffic sources. This will be an ongoing process — you’ll continue to add links as you work with new traffic sources, but it is important to begin to capture the your current major traffic sources now.
With tracking links, you will know exactly how many visitors came from a particular traffic source. But you’ll also know much more than just the number of clicks. VisiOlo also shows you how many of those clicks turned into opt-ins and sales, even for multiple products. This is a very powerful and unique feature of VisiOlo because it allows you to more accurately measure the true ROI on various traffic sources.
One of the unique things about VisiOlo links is that we allow you to separate traffic sources (e.g. “Twitter” or “AdWords Group 1″) from destinations (e.g. “Sales Page” or “Blog Post”). Once a source or destination are created, you only need to select them from a list rather than having to copy and paste links every time. This will save you a lot of time, plus if you ever want to change the location of your “Sales Page” destination, you only need to edit the destination and all of your links that point to that destination will be changed.
1) Navigate to the Links Module
2) Click Add/Edit Link
3) Select or Add Traffic Source, Select the Appropriate System, Select or Add Destination (don’t forget to save!)
Fantastic! You have completed the setup process for your system.
Note: You can cloak your links using your own domain. When you create a VisiOlo link, it looks like this: http://visiolo.com/t/9999 But, wouldn’t you rather use a link that has your own domain in it like this? http://YourDomain.com/t/9999 Click here to get detailed instructions for using your own domain for links.
Note: You can pass URL variables to your destination page while still using VisiOlo links. Click here for detailed instructions on using URL variables with Links.
