1) System Map
In this section of the tutorial, you will create a map of your sales system. You may have never done this before, but we have made it as easy as possible for you by providing a set of system map templates (download below). Within the template file, you will find clear instructions about how to work with the templates, but for the complete picture, watch the video first.
Why make a system map?
It’s difficult to explain how valuable it is to have a clear map of *all* of your active sales systems. It’s one of those disciplines that, once you start doing it, makes you wonder how you ever got along without it.
There is something very powerful about being able to see exactly how prospects flow through the steps they take on the way to becoming customers.
Once you start mapping your sales systems, you’ll gain insight into where you can improve your profits. You’ll be in a much better position to track your results and increase conversions at key points.
You’ll also be able to quickly and easily bring team members up-to speed when you outsource some of the work. This alone is a great reason to make a system map because a one-page map can convey more information that several pages of typed text.
There are many, many more benefits to having a clear and accurate visualization of each of your sales systems, but instead of me listing all of them, better for you to experience them. Trust me on this, you do want a system map and now is time to create it.
Step 1: Download and Save the Current Template File
Step 2: Watch the Video
Step 3: Select a Template
Open the template file and scroll through the available templates until you find one that closely matches your own system.
Step 4: Customize the Template (if needed)
Change element labels, add/remove pages, add traffic sources, etc. Make sure the template matches your sales system’s core elements, but remember, you can always add pages later. When I set up a new system, I don’t worry about non-core pages like an affiliate or JV offer page, etc.
Step 5: Clean-up The File
After you are happy with your system map, delete all of the slides that you don’t need or want. Ideally, your map will be a one-slide file, but if you want to keep certain pages (such as the Element Description slide or the Label Key slide) then, by all means, hang on to them. If you ever need a fresh file to start a new system map, just come back here and download a new template file.
